Julia :: Portrait Session Melbourne, Florida

20 Dec

I love meeting people like Julia.  People who seem so timid, but break the surface just a little bit, and you find someone who loves to laugh, loves being creative, and loves to try something new.  That is Julia.

We had an absolute blast together.  Winter has recently come to Florida, which means it is like 60 degrees outside, and we are all freezing!  So, Julia and I decided that we needed to add some cozy winter sweaters to our shoot.  We bundled up and headed to the river to take some photos.

Take a look at some favorites from our session together.

P.S. If you like the photos or just want to yell at me for being cold here in Florida, leave some love in the comments.

Tamsin :: Carnival Portrait Session Melbourne, Florida

29 Nov

I photographed Tamsin and her family a while back, but we knew that we needed to do another shoot with just her.

Tamsin had her little baby girl less than a year ago, and fell into motherhood like a rock star.  I mean every time the name Ruby is mentioned, Tamsin just melts.  You can practically see her heart start to swell.  She laughs about crazy diaper changes and jokes about staying up all night, and even though you can tell that she is utterly exhausted, it is so clear that there is nothing that Tamsin loves more than being a mom.

So, why did we need to leave little Ruby behind to go play super model at the carnival?  Well, sometimes to stay a rock star (and sane) at home, you need to take a little time away just for yourself.  And what better way than to get all gussied up for some pretty pictures?

This shoot was so insanely fun.  It is everything that I love about photography: a crazy location full of colors and life, fantastic clothing, and a friend who was game for anything, including carnival games and winning an awesome Justin Bieber poster!

P.S. Share your favorites and give Tamsin some love in the comments.  Let her know that she is a total super model, post-baby or not!

Tamsin :: Carnival Portrait Session Sneak Peek

22 Nov

Let me just say that when you get the chance to photograph an awesome girl in an awesome dress in an awesome location, you take it!

The carnival came to town, and here is a quick sneak peek of Tamsin and I tearing up the fair!  More to come next week!

ChelseaAnne! Portrait Photographer :: Melbourne, Florida

15 Nov

Everything about Chelsea radiates sweetness (sweetness as in you are a kind and wonderful human being, not as in you’re totally rad, dude ;) ).  Including the fact that she pulled up to our shoot in a VW Bug; how she giggled and smiled when she sat down in a bunch of burs; and even how her name is ChelseaAnne!

This, of course, made her a complete joy to photograph.

She is building up her modeling portfolio, so we took a lot of serious shots in the name of fashion and the like.  But I couldn’t resist taking a few photographs of her smiling and laughing.  I just hate watching a girl who loves to smile be serious for too long!

Enjoy :)

ChelseaAnne :: Portrait Session Sneak Peek

8 Nov

I had an absolute dream of a photo shoot last weekend.  Picture a girl who has a killer fashion sense,  is super sweet, and is also crazy intelligent (I mean on her way to a PhD intelligent!), and then wrap her up in an adorable 5’3″ package.  That is ChelseaAnne.

Here is a quick look, and I can’t wait to show you the rest and tell you more about our shoot!

This summer I was lucky enough to spend a few moments in photography heaven.  Seriously, it was the coolest experience.  I traveled to Ohio (my old stomping grounds), and I had a mentor session with the awesome Michelle Black.  Not only did I get to pick her brain on all things photography, she also let me tag along on a fashion shoot.

Michelle styled the shoot and found our location.  She also came up with the idea to have our model, Lorrine, rock that wig!  And let me tell you, Lorrine did rock it.  It is not easy to wander around a midwestern town with a wig like that.  We had quite a few stares, and a few people even stopped to chat, but Lorrine was not shaken.  She had such a cool confidence.  What a dream to photograph!

If you want to hear more about my mentor session and see a few more pics from the shoot, check out this post on my fine are blog.

Enjoy the short work week, my friends!
